Being exposed to the effects of the thunderbolt spell is not an experience that people usually enjoy. The shocking sound that can be heard throughout the affected area is loud enough to do 1-50 damage (average 25). In addition to this, anyone unlucky enough to be in the close vicinity of the caster might also be deafened for a short while (see also "help spell deafness").
