The caster of this spell causes his body to exist simultaneously on two planes, the plane he currently occupies and the elemental plane of air. By spreading his mass between dimensions in this way, he causes his body to take on a ghostly appearance that gives the wraithform spell its name. The caster's body becomes noncorporeal in such a way that he is able to affect his immediate environment, and it him. However, given time to concentrate, the caster can briefly shift his body almost entirely to the plane of air. This means any attacks made at range against the attacker will pass harmlessly through him. This spell does not afford any protection against melee attacks as the caster lacks enough time to react. The wraithform is maintained for 30 seconds before extraplanar stress requires a minute of rest. A caster cannot benefit from a gaseous form and a wraithform at the same time, as his body would become dispersed on the elemental plane of air.
